We are left with the thought of marine life, that we are only a few meters from the foamy waves and we pass on the list of tourist objectives that you should not miss in Constanța and the Aquarium.
The idea of setting up an aquarium in Constanța belonged to Admiral Bălănescu, a proposal he expressed in the Romanian Naval League in 1938.
It was built on the seafront of the Casino in Constanța, according to the plans of the architect A. Bernovschi. It is home to a wide variety of freshwater and saltwater fish, as well as Black Sea invertebrates and Mediterranean migrants, a total of about 2,000 fish of 60 species.
When placing the different species in the pools, the taxonomic criterion was observed as much as possible. The largest pool also houses the largest collection of sturgeons, famous both for its scientific importance and for the longevity of specimens in captivity, which reaches 18-20 years.
Of particular interest are the non-economic species, less known as the cat and the sea fox, the scorpion and the dragon, the starfish, the horse, the needle and the sea thread, etc.
The space for the presentation of the permanent exhibition of aquatic fauna and flora has 57 pools.
